Mayor Sprouse has evidently forgotten that Sam's moved to Fayetteville because of his predecessors anti-business attitude. I agree with Overton on this one Springdale cannot afford to lose new business by following the same anti-business path of Fayetteville. Fayetteville learned their lesson the hard way and Springdale should have learned with the Sam's club debacle. The whole point which Sprouse has conveniently forgotten while counting votes is that ARVEST ballpark was built where it is and that bond issue and the one for interchange passed on the pro business development in that area. If none of the protesting landowners dont have plans on the drawing board then by all means the mayor and council should do whatever is reasonably possible to get the first new business in the ballpark development area.

Explain your rationale. Fayetteville is anti-business with its sign ordinances, yet you admit that Sam's moved to Fayetteville.

Fayetteville has many more retail businesses and restaurants than Springdale, yet the city isn't littered with truckstop signs. How does Fayetteville manage to do it?

I'll never understand Springdale thinking.

Enjoy the views of that giant truckstop sign from all over town.

While most progessive communities are limiting the impact of signs on residents and reducing light pollution, Springdale is poised to continue looking cheap and gaudy by selling out to demands of a truck stop located on top of a hill, claiming it needs a bigger sign. What is wrong with utilizing the blue informational signs already along the highway to inform drivers of the truck stop. Council is so desperate to cover their butts on the bill of goods they sold us on the ball park development, they are willing to grab anything, no matter how undesirable it may be to the quality of life of the residents.

I see Alderman Mike Overton is carrying on the Springdale tradition of looking at short-term gains at the expense of people's quality of life.

They just don't get it in Springdale. The reason you don't have any major retail is because of people like Overton.
