Twenty-seven USA Drug stores in Arkansas are expected to be closed in November, Walgreen Co. spokesman Jim Graham said Tuesday.

"Although we have not finalized the acquisition of USA Drug, we are taking steps in anticipation of the completion of the transaction, which is expect to occur in mid-September," Graham said.

Graham said 76 USA Drug-affiliated stores will close by November. Prescription-drug customers of stores that are closed will be notified of the location of the nearest Walgreens- or USA Drug-affiliated store where prescription information may be transferred, Graham said.

Not all Arkansas USA Drug-affiliated locations are closing, Graham said, adding that three stores in Little Rock will continue to operate. Those stores are at 1601 S. Main St., 8815 Stagecoach Road and 500 S. University Ave.

Sorry to hear this, USA Drug has been my pharmacy for 18 yrs. Will probably not find a more friendly and helpful replacement!
Thanks USA Drug!
