— Austin Allen passed for six touchdowns, but it wasn't enough in Fayetteville's 49-39 loss to Jefferson City on Friday.

The Purple 'Dogs' (0-2) trailed by as many 17 points in the fourth quarter. Jefferson City, ranked No. 3 in its classification, improved to 3-0.

Fayetteville led 13-7 with 4:35 remaining in the first half, but Jays scored 16 seconds later to take the lead for good.

Linebacker Brooks Ellis left the game with an apparent kneecap injury for the Purple 'Dogs. Safety Alex Brignoni missed his second consecutive game with a hamstring injury. Both, along with Allen, are committed to the University of Arkansas.

Fayetteville will host Muskogee, Okla. next Friday at Harmon Field.
