More than 100,000 Syrians fled their country last month, a sudden acceleration of the exodus prompted by 18 months of conflict, the United Nations said Tuesday.

Syria's Assad Holds Talks With Red Cross Chief

Syrian President Bashar Assad told the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Damascus on Tuesday that the group is welcome to operate in the country as long as it remains "neutral and independent," state media reported. (By AP)
