Crews taming Nebraska wildfires

3 blazes, 1 spilling over into S.D., burn nearly 260 square miles

A female fire crew hikes up to the fire line Monday to battle a blaze that has burned more than 4,000 acres near Glendora, Calif. Crews also are fighting fires in Nebraska and South Dakota.

Some firefighters who have battled the western Nebraska and South Dakota wildfires for nearly a week are being sent home, a fire official said Monday.
