Fireworks Permitted

— Shooting fireworks will be allowed Sunday and Monday after Mayor Doug Sprouse banned that part of the July Fourth celebration during a drought.

The City Council voted to allow fireworks Labor Day weekend to make up for no Fourth fireworks. The hours set were Sunday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Sprouse banned burning at the end of June to reduce fire danger. Fayetteville, Washington and Benton counties also banned burning.
