Mary Catherine “Kitty” Manning of Bentonville was selected to receive a merit scholarship to study violin at The Lamont School of Music at The University of Denver, where she will study with performance artist Linda Wang. Manning entered the Interlochen Arts Academy in 2008 at age 14.

The daughter of Mary and Mark Manning graduated in 2012 as a Fine Arts Award recipient in music (violin) and with senior honors. She served as studio assistant to violin professor Paul Sonner and performed on Interlochen’s national tour of the orchestra, band and choir, which included concerts at Constitution Hallin Washington, D.C., and Alice Tully Hall of Lincoln Center in New York City.

Local students newly accepted at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts are juniors:

Baleigh Almond, daughter of Shelly Kellenbarger of Pea Ridge and Joseph Almond of Hot Springs;

James Ginn, son of Meredith and Jeremiah Ginn of Rogers;

Kyle Hooks, son of Violet and Brian Hooks of Bentonville;

Jacob Lawler, son of Donell Lawler of Bella Vista; and

Alexandra Martinez, daughter of Ellen and Gerald Martinez of Bentonville.
