— Rain on Thursday night will result in a massive night of racing tonight at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock.

The 25th annual Comp Cams Short Track Nationals began with a preliminary card Thursday night, but rain came just past the midway point of the fifth heat race.

After waiting a little more than a half-hour, track officials elected to postpone the event until today, when the remainder of the Thursday card will be held and will be followed by the complete Friday event.

The opening prelim card will resume at 6 p.m. today with four laps remaining in the fifth heat and Greg Wilson of Benton Ridge, Ohio, leading. Five qualifying races will then be held, followed by two B-Main qualifiers and the 20-lap preliminary feature.

An identical complete card — with heat races, qualifying races, B-Main qualifiers and a preliminary feature — will follow.

The top three finishers from each prelim feature will make up the first six starting spots for Saturday night’s main event, which will pay $15,000 to win and $2,500 to start.

Ticket information is available online at i-30speedway. com.
