The candidates calibrated their comments to appeal to voters in key swing states, with lots of talk about China’s nasty trade policies (targeting auto workers) and Israel (targeting Florida voters). Time after time, they skipped back to domestic issues, such as the economy and even Mitt Romney’s education record when he was governor of Massachusetts.
