Arkansas Democrat-Gazette/RICK MCFARLAND --10/19/12-- Fair goers soar in a swing-chair ride at the Arkansas State Fair in Little Rock Friday.

— The Arkansas State Fair finished with big attendance figures on the event’s final weekend and passed last year’s total for the fair’s 10-day run.

The 2012 Arkansas State Fair in Little Rock had attendance of 447,938, just over last year’s total of 446,573.

Sunday’s attendance was 51,448, with 66,632 attending on Friday and 88,210 on Saturday.

Crowds were small on the first Friday of the fair because of rainy weather. But General Manager Ralph Shoptaw said the closing Sunday attendance was 28 percent higher than a year before, which enabled the fair to beat the 2011 attendance mark.
