The driver of a pickup truck was seriously injured in a wreck involving a Fayetteville school bus, but no students were injured, said Battalion Chief Mauro Campos of the Fayetteville Fire Department.

The accident happened Monday afternoon near Huntsville Road and Van Hoose Drive.

Campos said three students were on the bus. Two of the three were transported to Washington Regional Medical Center at the request of their parents, he said.

The driver of the Dodge pickup was also taken to Washington Regional.

Campos said the pickup was eastbound on Huntsville road when it crossed the center line into the path of the westbound bus. The bus driver tried to swerve to avoid the truck and ended up on an embankment, Campos said. He said the bus driver wasn't injured.
