Benton County voters will have a choice to make Nov. 6 in a race for county judge between a first-term incumbent and an independent challenger.

Employment: Benton County judge since 2011; 35 years in commercial construction
Education: Bachelors of science in construction management, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Okla.
Political experience: Serving first term as county judge
Military experience: U.S. Army, honorable discharge
Ronnie L. Smith
Age: 56
Residency: Garfield area. Lifelong resident of Benton County
Family: Wife, Paula; four children
Employment: Co-owner of J&R Dozer construction company
Education: Graduate, Rogers High School
Political experience: Unsuccessful candidate for Benton County judge as a Democrat in 1986; served on Avoca Planning Commission in 2010 and in June 2011 was named as Avoca’s representative on the Benton County Water District Board
Military experience: Marine Corps, E-3, honorably discharged
