Cards win big, lead 3-1

St. Louis first baseman Matt Carpenter slides into home plate in front of a throw to San Francisco catcher Hector Sanchez during the fifth inning of the Cardinals’ 8-3 victory in St. Louis. Carpenter was safe on the play as Sanchez was unable to handle the throw.

One more victory and another bunch of wild-card St. Louis Cardinals get their chance to repeat.

Bulldogs stick to it
