PUBLIC VIEWPOINT: Congress Earning Label

Our Congress recently reconvened after a five-week summer recess.

Apparently, after only a week or two of congressional work, they chose to quit and go home again. Their excuse? Both parties claimed the other wouldn’t work with them.

So, they gave up and went home, leaving numerous bills that needed to be addressed and a bad taste in the mouths of the voters who sent them toWashington to accomplish tasks that would be beneficial to the general public.

Some years ago, there was a Congress whose actions caused them to be labeled “do-nothing.” Would you agree that label might well fit this one also?

It’s unfortunate they let uncontrolled ire and dislike for the opposing party get in the way of carrying out the mission they were intended for - to make things better for their constituents. True Christians don’t act in such a manner.

PRESS LOSES DEBATE

The clear loser in the (Oct. 3) presidential debate was the press.

The questioner should never ask a candidate to define his opponent’s position, as this brings forth all sorts of lies, distortions, and misrepresentation.

The people want to know from the candidate how he/she will solve problems and address issues.

We have already had enough other people interpreting the candidates for us.

I rank the whole Debate One a zero.

It is worse than that for people just now tuning in to the election.
