Police: Couple Grew Pot

— Police arrested a couple Thursday after investigators found marijuana plants in their backyard.

Marsha Cafourek, 55, and Gary Cafourek, 61, of 175 N. Garland Ave., face charges in connection with felony manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and possession of drug paraphernalia. Marsha Cafourek faces an additional charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Members of the 4th Judicial District Drug Task Force searched the couple’s home Thursday and found marijuana limbs hanging to dry in the garage, according to an arrest report.

Detective searched the backyard and found two marijuana plants, measuring 12 feet and 5 feet tall, along with three harvested marijuana stalks left. Inside the home, police found various drug paraphernalia used for production and consumption of marijuana, and a loaded rifle, according to the report.

The Cafoureks were arrested and taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where they were being held on $3,500 bond Friday.
