W.W. Wagner, superintendent of the Garbage Department, has issued an order calling attention to the ordinance which prohibits the sweeping of trash into the paved streets of Little Rock. There have been numerous complaints, according to Mr. Wagner, of downtown merchants allowing trash from the sidewalks in front of their stores to be swept into the street. Mr. Wagner also called attention to the fact that no sweeping shall be done after 7 o’clock in the morning and that sidewalks must be sprinkled before they are swept. Dust arising from a janitor’s broom not only is unpleasant, but, according to Mr. Wagner, is a menace to health.

The board expelled the male students for drinking alcohol before a football game.

BRINKLEY - The big rigs filed out of the gravel parking lot Saturday, kicking up dust and dirt as their horns blared in an odd chorus. Some were inscribed with names like “Miss Samantha,” others sported phrases such as “Playing for Keeps.” This is how truckers protest: not with a sit-in or a boycott, but on the open road. About two dozen big rigs drove in a convoy Saturday for roughly 40 miles, from Brinkley to Stuttgart, protesting what they call an unfair sales tax on their vehicles.
