Construction Advances On Upgraded Athletic Facilities

Work gives high school more flexibility in athletic space

Construction continues on the indoor practice facility Thursday next to Harmon Stadium at Fayetteville High School. The district is renovating and building athletic facilities.

New and remodeled athletic facilities at Fayetteville High School will provide flexibility and space needed for the addition of ninth grade.

Facility Costs

The Fayetteville School District is spending about $7.4 million renovating and building athletic facilities at the high school. The construction is being paid with second-lien bonds, a type of funding package, similar to refinancing a home loan. The projects are:

• Bulldog Athletic and Recreation Complex: $4.4 million

• Track: $1.4 million

• Tennis courts: $1.23 million

• Harmon Stadium turf: $682,000; $402,000 from the district and the balance from private fundraising.
