North Carolina trio plows increasingly fertile ground

The highest-charting debut for an album in 2012 so far belongs to British folk rockers Mumford & Sons. Other indie folk bands, such as The Lumineers, Of Monsters of Men, The Civil Wars and The Decemberists have made a splash by playing traditional instruments with rock ’n’ roll dynamics, too.
