Arts and cultural organizations bring more than just music, dance and theatrical performances to Northwest Arkansas.

According to a study reviewed Wednesday by officials with the Walton Arts Center and the Northwest Arkansas Council, 25 arts-related nonprofit organizations employed 1,091 people and spent $30.9 million in Washington and Benton counties in Fiscal Year 2010. Arts and culture generated an additional $14.5 million in event-related spending by audiences, the study found.

The findings were part of an Arts & Economic Prosperity Study conducted by Americans for the Arts, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that advocates for investment in the arts and arts education.
