100 YEARS AGO Oct. 10, 1912 The Department of Public Instruction is interested in the purchase of a phonograph for the use of the students of the Reform School, because the phonograph is used in a number of states as an aid to teaching, and its use is expected to become general in the rural schools of Arkansas. In rural districts, it was stated, the phonograph is of special importance in giving current speeches by well-known statesmen and in teaching music and expression.
