— Elsewhere in arts and entertainment this week: Houdini-esque-apes

One-name Arkansas illusionist Sean-Paul of Eureka Springs’ Intrigue Theater will attempt two Harry Houdini-influenced “Extraordinary Escapes” in Eureka Springs this month:

At noon Thursday at the Crescent Hotel, 75 Prospect Ave., he will be strapped into a regulation straitjacket and hoisted upside down by his feet from a plank extending off the hotel observation deck.

At 7 p.m. Oct. 20, he will be handcuffed, stuffed into a 70-year-old 30-gallon milk can filled with water and the lid sealed with four padlocks in Basin Street Park on Spring Street.

Admission is free.

At 10 p.m. Halloween night, Oct. 31, the Crescent Hotel’s Crystal Ballroom will host a performance called The Intrigue of Harry Houdini, which will include segments of Intrigue Theater’s regular show, ending with a seance in an attempt to make contact with the spirit of Houdini, who died on Halloween 1926. Tickets are $29.95. Call (479) 244-7028 or visit intriguetheater.com.
