Battle re-enactment is this weekend

Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Prairie Grove with two days of living history programs and battle reenactments Saturday and Sunday.

Living history programs are planned from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Saturday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday. Union, Confederate and civilian camps are planned, and there will be military drills and cooking, lace-making and spinning demonstrations.

Battle re-enactments are planned at 1 p.m. each day. The park expects more than 1,500 Civil War re-enactors to take part in the event this year.

  • ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE Junior League hosts home tour

The Junior League of Northwest Arkansas will host its 14th annual Winter Dreams Tour of Homes from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Sunday at homes in Benton and Washington counties.

The tour will feature eight homes decorated for the Christmas holiday. After the tour, attendees can head to Legacy Blues in Fayetteville for a complimentary drink and after-party.
