The Lady War Eagles (3-0) had a huge fight on their hands Thursday.

Beebe (2-1) trailed by as many as 10 points in the fourth quarter, but roared back behind the play of 5-foot-7 junior Kalela Miller, who poured in a game-high 26 points.

Miller’s pull-up jumper with 23 seconds left pulled the Lady Badgers into a 53-53 tie, but Heritage took advantage of the last possession.

Beebe forced a held ball with 6.5 seconds left, but Heritage got the ball back on the alternate possession. Brittany Ward threw a perfect inbounds pass to her sister cutting under the basket for the layup.

Heritage coach Kevin Ramey thought about calling timeout, but decided against it. Instead, the Wards just came up with a big play at the biggest time.

“It was just a heads up play by Brittany and Ashley,” Ramey said. “Maybe that’s the twin thing in them. It’s a play we ran in the first half and we came back to. It’s kinda better against a man than zone, but I think they were scrambling a little bit.”

Brittany Ward led three players in double figures with 17 points, while Ashley Ward added 11 and Ellen Lundy 10.

Jackson was also in double figures with 15 for Beebe.
