Arkansas State Police identified Wylladen D. Richards, 54, as the woman who was killed.

James R. Ennis, 43, and Regina L. Couch, 35, both of West Fork, were transported to the Washington Regional Medical Center. They had been discharged as of Thursday afternoon.

According to an accident report, Ennis was driving a 2005 Ford trash truck eastbound on Arkansas 170, two miles west of Interstate 540. He reportedly parked on the shoulder of the road at about 7:20 a.m. to load the back of the truck with trash.

State police said the trash truck was parked on the shoulder of partially in the eastbound lane.

Ennis was standing at the rear of the truck when a 1991 Plymouth van, driven by Couch, approached in the eastbound lane.

Couch didn’t see the trash truck in time to stop so she swerved to the left to avoid impact, but struck Ennis, the report said.

The front right side of the van struck the left rear of the trash truck, killing Richards, who was a front-seat passenger in the van.
