Fishing this week

— HOT SPOTSBEAVER LAKE Crappie are biting well on minnows and jigs. Bass are biting fairly well on spoons, drop-shot rigs and deep-diving crankbaits. White bass are biting well on Rooster Tails and topwater lures.

DEGRAY LAKE Bass fishing is great in the backs of major windblown pockets and creeks. The best pattern has been liplesscrankbaits when the fish are shallow.

Bream fishing is fair with the fish moving deeper on the weather fronts. Look for fish

around the attractors in the back of coves and

fish a red worm or cricket near the bottom next to the brush. Catfishing is fair at night in the major creeks using trotlines set 20-30 feet deep.

GREERS FERRY LAKE Bass are getting into theirwinter patterns. Fish Rat-L-Traps or spinnerbaits along

45-degree banks, the ends of points, secondary points

and flats. Wiggle Warts and Alabama Rigs are working along steeper banks, and Carolina rigs and football head jigsare working around the points. Catfish are hitting shad fished on deep flats. Crappie has improved using minnows and jigs in 5-15 feet of water around wood or other structure.

LAKE MAUMELLE Largemouth bass fishing is excellent, with many small bass being caught around drop-offs, pockets andpoints in 10-15 feet of water. Try Pop R’s and Tiny Torpedoes early in

the morning, then switch to Carolina rigs during the day. Spotted bass

are biting well on Rooster Tails and jighead worms in 8-10 feet of water.

Crappie fishing is excellent near the main channel in 25-30 feet of water using pink minnows, dull colored jigs and grubs.

LAKE OUACHITA Black bass fishing is very good using peanut butter and jelly-colored football jigs, citrus shad crankbaits and drop-shot rigged watermelon candy finesse worms. Striper fishing is fair using live bait or trolled hair jigs around main lake points. Crappie fishing is excellent near and over brush in 20-25 feet of water using minnows and crappie grubs fished 18-20 feet deep.
