The annual Block Street Holiday Art Sale is set for 7-9 p.m.
Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday at Parker Hall at the Mount Sequoyah Retreat and Conference Center in Fayetteville.
The sale will include a variety of artwork and handmade crafts by local artists including Don House, Sabine Schmidt, Susan Shore, Elizabeth Nevin and Victoria McKinney among others.

BEST Robotics Competition planned
Robotics teams representing eight area competitions will meet and compete at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith and the Fort Smith Convention Center on Friday and Saturday as part of the 2012 Frontier Trails BEST Regional Robotics Competition.
The competition will include 35 teams from Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. The event begins with an opening ceremony at 8 a.m. Saturday and ends with an awards ceremony at 5 p.m. that day.
Each team will design and operate its own robot with a kit of materials supplied for the task. Each team will be competing for the contest’s highest award, the BEST Award.

The University of Arkansas music department will host an opera workshop, “How Do I Love Thee?,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall at the UA Fine Arts Center in Fayetteville.
Opera scenes will be presented during the workshop. The public is invited to attend.
