Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe and members of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission are planning an announcement Thursday morning involving an economic expansion.

A news release from the commission states that the announcement will be made about 10 a.m. at 7700 Chad Colley Boulevard in Fort Smith, where Umarex USA opened its plant in October 2010.

Umarex USA makes firearms, ammo and firearm accessories.

An AEDC spokesman was unable to comment on the reason for the announcement, and calls to Umarex were not immediately returned.
