Disc Designer Nabbed With Pot in Boise

A Fayetteville businessman and one-time amateur world disc golf champion was arrested with 28 pounds of marijuana in a motel room in Boise, Idaho, according to police.

Jeffery Boyd Ash, 54, was arrested Nov. 20 in connection with felony drug trafficking and misdemeanor indecent exposure, according to a news release from the Boise Police Department.

A woman told police Boyd showed her a sexually explicit photo on his cell phone while they were having a conversation in the motel lobby. Officers found Boyd in his room and smelled marijuana. Detectives found two duffle bags containing 25 packages of about 28.5 pounds of marijuana, according to the news release.

Andrew Sweeton, tour manager of the Professional Disc Golf Association, said Ash won the 2003 amateur masters championship for players older than 40. Sweeton said Ash is no longer a member of the association.

According to a company Facebook page, Ash owns Brainwave Disc, a business known for tie-dyed designs on discs.

He played on the University of Arkansas baseball team in the 1979 College World Series.

Ash was in the Ada County Jail on $150,000 bond.
