The Ozark Guidance Foundation will host a kickoff event for the third annual Walk a Mile in My Shoes sale from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at the Springdale Country Club. The luncheon will highlight mental health challenges in Northwest Arkansas.

Attendees are asked to bring a new or good condition pair of shoes or a handbag to donate to the sale. The group is trying to collect 3,000 pairs of shoes or handbags for the event.

The sale will begin at 8 a.m. Jan. 26 at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale. Shoes and handbags will be sold for $10 with proceeds going to help Ozark Guidance centers.

Donations will be accepted until Jan. 16; community groups are invited to host shoe drives to help gather donations.

The University of Arkansas music department will host an opera workshop, “How Do I Love Thee?,” at 7:30 p.m.

Friday in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall at the UA Fine Arts Center in Fayetteville.

Opera scenes will be presented during the workshop.

The public is invited to attend.
