Pedestrian among two killed in road accidents

— A Gepp man and a Booneville woman died from injuries they received in separate motor-vehicle accidents Friday and Saturday on Arkansas highways, according to preliminary Arkansas State Police reports.

About 4:40 p.m. Friday, Sarah L. Hutson, 35, of Mountain Home was driving a 1999 Chevrolet east on U.S. 62 about 2 miles east of the Fulton-Baxter County line when she ran off the highway in a curve. Hutson’s vehicle struck Ricky Walker, 57, a pedestrian, and then hit a tree head-on, the report states.

Walker was killed. Hutson and Linda Lawyer, 55, of Mountain Home, a passenger in the vehicle, were injured and taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, the report states. The extent of their injuries and their conditions Saturday were not available.

About 2:29 a.m. Saturday, Jessica Lawson, 22, was traveling north on U.S. 71 near Huntington in Sebastian County in a 1996 Buick when she crossed into the opposite lane and struck a 2001 Pontiac head-on, the report states.

Lawson died at the scene. Ernest Schlinker, 67, of Mansfield, the driver of the Pontiac, was injured and taken to Sparks Regional Medical Center, the report said. The extent of his injuries and his condition Saturday were not available.
