— 3 named to Tech’s Hall of Distinction

RUSSELLVILLE - Arkansas Tech University’s board of trustees has chosen a Heber Springs couple and a Russellville man for induction into the university’s Hall of Distinction.

The inductees are Terry Tucker Rothwell and her husband, Ben Rothwell, of Heber Springs and Jim Murphy of Russellville.

The three alumni will be inducted during commencement May 11 at John E. Tucker Coliseum.

After a career in education, Terry Rothwell founded Technetics Corp. in 1985 and rebranded it as Celerit in 2002. Ben Rothwell’s career in financial services and corporate management has included work with Merrill Lynch, A.G. Edwards and Ciba Vision. He helped create and manage Celerit, which specializes in bank-data services.

Murphy, who works for Brown and Brown Insurance, has served as president of the Arkansas Tech Alumni Association board of directors.

finalists for post

ARKADELPHIA - A Henderson State University committee has selected five finalists in its search for a new provost and vice president of academic affairs.

A university news release said the finalists are:

Risa Dickson, associate provost for academic personnel and professor of communication studies at California State University, San Bernardino.

Martin Eisenberg, interim dean, School of Arts and Letters, and associate provost at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo.

Georgia Hale, dean, College of Applied Science and Technology at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith.

Brenda Nichols, dean, College of Arts & Sciences at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.

Robert Scott Jr., dean and professor, College of Education and Technology at Fort Hays State University in Kansas.

Hale is scheduled to be on campus Tuesday and Wednesday; Nichols on Wednesday and Thursday; Eisenberg on Dec. 2-3; Dickson on Dec. 4-5 and Scott on Dec. 6-7. Forums for the candidates to meet the community will begin at 3:30 p.m. on the second day of each visit, with locations to be announced later.
