Pedestrian Killed In Traffic Accident

— A Missouri man who died Thursday when a vehicle struck him has been identified.

Truman Lewis Patterson, 74, of Seligman, Mo., died after a northbound Ford Explorer hit him at 5:52 p.m. while he was crossing Thompson Street. Thompson Street is also U.S. 71B in Springdale.

Patterson was at Northwest Medical Center-Springdale with his wife, according to a news release from the Springdale Police Department. He crossed Thompson to go to McDonald’s, according to an Arkansas State Police fatal crash summary. He was hit while returning.

He wasn’t breathing when firefighters arrived, according to Springdale dispatch records.

The driver of the Explorer was tested for alcohol, a standard practice for accidents with serious injuries or fatalities, according to the release. There was no trace of alcohol found. The name of the driver wasn’t released.

No charges or citations were issued to the driver of the Explorer.
