Holiday Hoopla Kicks Off Tonight

— Holiday Hoopla begins tonight with the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree and the arrival of Santa Claus at Frisco Park in downtown.

Mayor Greg Hines, assisted by Santa, is scheduled to flip the switch at 5 p.m. lighting the new, 27-foot-tall Christmas tree at First and Elm streets.

Santa, who usually arrive via a fire engine, has kept his mode of travel a secret, said Dana Mather, event coordinator for Main Street Rogers, which sponsors the event.

Holiday Hoopla is five weeks of events designed to bring people to downtown Rogers, and includes music, a ballet performance, carols and food vendors.

The intersection of First and Elm streets will be closed to traffic during the event.
