— HOT SPOTS

ARKANSAS RIVER (MAUMELLE POOL) Bream fishing is still fair using crickets and worms. Crappie are biting well on minnows and jigs fished around brush and stumps. Bass are biting well in the mornings on spinnerbaits and top-water lures. Catfishing is goodusing worms, brood minnows and chicken livers.

LAKE CATHERINE Rainbow trout season is underway with quality fish being caught fromthe bridge to the dam. Rainbows are scattered

but are chasing shad and insects around shoals

and sand bars. White bass are in the tailrace, along with a fair number of hybrids and stripers.

DEGRAY LAKE Bass fishing is good with the fishmoving shallow. Hybrid fishing is good with lots of

fish in the major coves on the main lake and in the major creeks. Many bream have been spotted in shallow coves with the warmer weather. Fish a redworm or cricket

under a float set 4-5 feet deep. Catfishing is fair in the major creeks on trotlines and jug lines set 20 -30 feet deep off long points.

LAKE OUACHITA Black bass fishing is good using football jigs, citrus shad crankbaits and drop-shot rigs. Try fishing over main

lake and secondary points near brush. Walleye fishing is fair with most being caught on jigging spoons near humps and main lake points with brush. Bottom bouncing and drop-shot rigs are still working as

well. Striper fishing is fair with most being caught on live bait or trolled

hair jigs. Main-lake points are the best locations for these fish. Crappie are

being caught near and over brush in water 20-30 feet deep using minnows and crappie grubs. Catfish are being caught on cut bait and live bait on jug lines and trotlines set 20-30 feet deep.

LITTLE RED RIVER The water is clear and at normal level. No generators are running. Trout are biting excellently on wax worms floated with Power Bait, corn and night crawlers. Fly-fishing has been excellent as well.
