ASU linebacker out for a half

— Arkansas State linebacker Don Jones will miss the first half of the Red Wolves’ Dec. 1 season-finale against Middle Tennessee.

Jones was ejected in the first quarter the Red Wolves’ 41-34 victory Saturday against Troy after incurring a personal foul penalty at the end of a play.

Under conference bylaws, the ejection requires a player to be suspended a minimum of one game. The school appealed the suspension, and based on the fact Jones had sat out three quarters the suspension was reduced to the first half of the game against the Blue Raiders.

ASU has a bye this week, but its game against Middle Tennessee could decide whether ASU claims its second consecutive conference title.

Jones, a 6-1, 208-pound senior from Town Creek, Ala., ranks third on the team with 66 tackles and is sixth with 4 1/2 tackles for loss.
