The fifth annual Springdale Police Department Turkey Trot 5K will be Thursday at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale.

Registration starts at 7 a.m. Thursday at the park.

The event will include a 5K run starting at 8 a.m. and a one-mile fun walk at 8:10 a.m. The 5K will be chip-timed.

The first 250 runners will receive a short-sleeve tech shirt, and the first 100 walkers will receive a short-sleeve cotton T-shirt. Awards will be given to the top male and female runners by age.

Library to host holiday card signing

The American Red Cross will host a Holiday Mail for Heroes card signing from 1-3 p.m. Saturday in the Fayetteville Public Library lobby. Residents are invited to stop by and sign cards for active service members stationed around the world. Cards will be distributed to military installations, veterans hospitals and other military locations.

Christmas gala set at Peel Mansion

The annual Peel Compton Foundation Christmas Gala will be 6 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Peel Mansion in Bentonville.

Guests will enjoy two wines designed to compliment the hors d’oeuvres. Dinner will start at 7 p.m. and will include four courses paired with wine. Tickets range from $120 for dinner in the Peel Mansion Conservatory and Carriage House to $1,500 for a private, upstairs dinner that seats 12.

Reservations should be made by Monday.
