The Walton Arts Center is now seeking proposals from visual and performing artists for its 2013 Artosphere Arts and Nature Festival. Up to three grants will be awarded for the 2013 Artosphere Partner Grant program, and grant recipients may receive up to $6,000 for projects that support the mission and theme of the festival.

Grant criteria includes support of the Artosphere theme, artistic integrity, community involvement and visibility.

Projects must occur in May or June.

Possible projects range from theatrical and musical performances and visual arts installations to community collaborations and events that enhance planned Artosphere programs.

Grant applications are available at artospherefestival.org.

Jan. 7 is the deadline to apply; awards will be announced Jan. 31.

The Eureka Springs School of the Arts will host its annual Fine Art Show + Sale on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Best Western Inn of the Ozarks in Eureka Springs. Hundreds of artists will showcase their work as part of the event.

A special preview will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Cost to attend is $5 per person.

Show hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Sunday. Admission is $2 per person.

  • ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTEDevil’s Den hosts “Black Friday”

Devil’s Den State Park in West Fork will host a special “Black Friday” event with a twist Friday. The park is offering a series of events designed to get people outdoors rather than waiting in long lines to buy Christmas presents.

The park will host hikes, nature crafts and family fun events. A guided hike to Yellow Rock is planned at 1 p.m., while families can make handmade, recycled wrapping paper at 4 p.m.

Guests can learn about Dutch oven cooking and Ozark folk toys at 7 p.m. that evening.
