Trash Service To Go Before Council

— Trash will be the topic for discussion when the Bella Vista City Council meets at 6:30 p.m. today at Highlands Crossing Center.

An ordinance requiring the use of a collection service was passed at the September meeting after three readings. In early November, the council approved Mayor Frank Anderson to put together a contract with Allied Waste for solid waste collection in the city for the next 10 years. The contract and rates will be discussed tonight.

The council also will consider a resolution approving amendments to the city’s master street plan. The Planning Commission voted last week to recommend the amendments put together by the street advisory group that began studying possible updates to the area of U.S. 71 near Dartmoor Road and Oldham Drive in August.

The city’s 2013 budget is on the agenda for discussion only.

The meeting is open to the public.
