FAYETTEVILLE BJ Young scored 23 points in his first game of the season and Arkansas easily beat Longwood 112-63 Sunday at Bud Walton Arena.
Young, who served a suspension for a team rules violation in the season opener, hit 10 of 16 field goal attempts and added five assists. Young and Arkansas' other starters didn't play the game's final 13 minutes, 34 seconds.
Anthlon Bell, who hit three 3-pointers, and Marshawn Powell added 16 points each as the Razorbacks improved to 2-0.
Arkansas had not played in nine days and briefly struggled with the Lancers, but used a 12-0 run midway through the first half to take control. The Razorbacks made 59 percent of their shots before halftime and led 55-34 at the intermission.
The Razorbacks hit 52 percent of their shots overall thanks to a relentless defense that forced 28 turnovers and led to several easy looks on the other end. Arkansas scored 47 points off the Lancers' miscues, including 28 points in transition.
After struggling to rebound in a 5-point win over Sam Houston State in the opener, the Razorbacks controlled the boards Sunday, out-rebounding the undersized Big South Conference foe 48-32. Coty Clarke led all players with 10 rebounds.
Arkansas played all 14 of its players in the win, with six scoring in double figures. Rickey Scott added 12 points, Jacorey Williams 11 and Michael Qualls 10.
The 112 points were Arkansas' most since a 2009 win over Alcorn State - a span of 96 games. The Razorbacks will host Florida A&M on Tuesday.
