Fall Leaf Pickup Scheduled

— The city will start its annual fall leaf curbside pickup Nov. 26.

Leaves only. No other waste, including tree limbs, will be collected.

Leaves must be bagged. The city will not supply or sell bags for this program.

All bags need to be placed by 8 a.m. Nov. 26.

The program applies only to single-family and duplex residential properties. Commercial properties and apartment complexes are not included.

All bags need to securely closed and placed within 10 feet from curb or edge of pavement/street. Place the bags at a location away from your normal trash collection.

City workers will not enter private property to collect bags.

Property owners are responsible for proper disposal of leaves not collected after Dec. 14.

Collection will run through Dec. 14. City crews will travel all streets one time and will not repeat routes for bags placed out after Nov. 26. City officials ask residents to be patient and understand bags may sit a few days before being removed. Bags placed after Nov. 26 are not guaranteed to be picked up, according to a city news release.

This collection is for bagged leaves only. All bags need to securely closed and placed near the curb or edge of street. Residents are asked not to place bags in ditches or other areas where they could affect drainage or present a safety hazard, according to the release.

In addition, citizens may dispose of leaves at the city compost facility, 2000 N.W. A St. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The facility accepts grass and leaves from Bentonville residents with a copy of a utility bill and photo ID. Brush and limbs are accepted from all residents and nonresidents without a copy of a utility bill or photo ID. The facility will be closed Nov. 22-23 for Thanksgiving. Normal operating hours will resume Nov. 24.
