— First United Presbyterian Church will have an alternative market 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sunday. The church is at 695 Calvin St.

The market will feature a variety of items including handmade crafts, such as quilts, knitted children’s hats, infant sweaters, afghans and scarves. Other items include homemade jams and jellies, handmade jewelry, paintings, drawings, artwork created by children and more.

Proceeds will go to several nonprofit organizations including the Arkansas Rice Depot, Coffees From the Congo, Evergreen Ministries, Feed Fayetteville, Heifer International, Cooperative Emergency Outreach, United Campus Ministry, Life Styles Inc. and the Northwest Arkansas Worker’s Justice Center. Others receiving funds include Ms. Agnes’ Children’s Orphanage in Uganda, Peace at Home, Solar Under the Sun, Seven Hills, Habitat for Humanity and SERRV.

Church hosts free Thanksgiving meal

FORT SMITH - Evangel Temple will host a free, communitywide Thanksgiving meal at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. All are welcome. The Assemblies of God church is at Towson and Dodson avenues. Information is available by calling(479) 782-9121.

Advent retreat

to be held Dec. 6

FORT SMITH - St. Scholastica Monastery will have an Advent retreat day Dec. 6 at the retreat center, 1205 S. Albert Pike Ave. The program, “Waiting for Mary: An Advent Day of Recollection,” will be led by Sister Rachel Dietz. Cost is $50 and includes lunch. Giants employee will speak at lunch

ROGERS - Bobby Evans, vice president of baseball operations for the San Francisco Giants, will be the speaker at the Nov. 29 Summit Business Persons’ Luncheon at Cross Church Pinnacle Hills. The luncheon is from 11:50 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.

The Christmas Summit will be Dec. 6.

Tickets are $9 and can be bought online at nwasummit.com or at the church office, 2448 Pinnacle Hills Parkway.
