Beavers, Burton roll to victory

— Carlos Burton carried 23 times for 208 yards and a touchdown, and Glen Rose took advantage of four turnovers en route to a 35-0 victory over Camden Harmony Grove in the Class 3A playoffs Friday night.

Burton’s 32-yard firstquarter run set up Clay Holicer’s 1-yard touchdown run. Then, Burton broke four tackles on a 37-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

“We got knocked around in the first half some,” Glen Rose Coach Mark Kehner said. “Everybody knew we needed to play four quarters tonight, and we did.”

Glen Rose held Camden Harmony Grove to 46 yards rushing.

“We played physical tonight,” Kehner said. “We put them in a bad spot by playing extremely physical football. We beat them down.”

Tyler Lewis intercepted two Camden Harmony Grove passes and Drake Lackey recovered two fumbles to lead the Glen Rose defense.

Glen Rose opened the game with a 14-play drive that took more than six minutes off the clock, resulting in Holicer’s 1-yard touchdown run.

Quarterback Collin Hunter threw a scoring pass to Austin Kehner for a 14-0 lead after Lewis returned his first interception to the Camden Harmony Grove 7.

Burton capped off Glen Rose’s first possession of the second half with a 37-yard touchdown run.

Kehner scored from 2 yards out after Lewis’ second interception, then added a 1-yard touchdown run after Lackey’s second fumble recovery.
