Walk set to help fight childhood cancer

The St. Jude Give Thanks Walk will begin at 9 a.m.

Saturday at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale. Funds raised go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to help fight childhood cancer.

Springdale is one of 90 cities nationwide to host a walk for the hospital Saturday. The event will include face painting, music by Jake McBride from the Big KIX Morning Show, skee ball, a photo booth and a talk by a St. Jude patient family member.

The 12th annual Razorback Roundup horse and tack sale will be Saturday at the Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Center in Fayetteville. The sale benefits the D.E.

King Equine Program, a largely self-funded program at the University of Arkansas.

The event will begin at 1 p.m. with close inspection of the horses by potential buyers. Guests will also be able to meet the horses’ trainers at that time.

Students will present their horses by saddling up and riding an obstacle course between 2:30 and 4 p.m. The auction begins at 4:30 p.m.

Each horse comes with a detailed portfolio created by students that includes a training plan, an entry about each training session, cues used, health records and bloodlines.

Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale will host its 12th annual Voyage for Hospice at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the John Q. Hammons Center in Rogers. The theme for this year’s event is Voyage to a Dream.

Guests can enjoy appetizers and dinner from local restaurants, silent auction, raffle and after-party. Tickets cost $75 each.
