Man Charged In Carjacking

— Police arrested an Alpena man in connection with a carjacking Wednesday at a car wash on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Erik D. Olson, 38, of 438 County Road 917 faces a felony charge of aggravated robbery, along with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree terroristic threatening, reckless driving, violation of implied consent and driving on a suspended license.

Olson held a rifle to a man’s head and threatened to kill his family early Wednesday evening at the Suds Car Wash, 1541 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., according to an arrest report.

He stole the man’s wallet and Chevrolet Tahoe, according to the report.

When Olson drove away, a hose got tangled in the axle and ripped it from the wash bay.

Police stopped Olson on Interstate 540 after he was spotted driving recklessly.

Police said they found the cellphone and wallet of the Tahoe’s owner, along with Olson’s rifle, inside the vehicle.
