Nonprofit organizations send wish lists to Santa

As we do every year, NWA Media has invited the nonprofit organizations that help our community all year to ask for help in return.

Their wish lists will appear in the Our Town section every Thursday until Christmas.

SYMPHONY OF NORTHWEST ARKANSAS

WHAT: Under the musical direction of maestro Paul Haas, SoNA is the region’s professional orchestra, made up of the top musicians from Northwest Arkansas and a surrounding six-state area. SoNA presents classical and pops performances of the highest artistic quality to music lovers throughout Northwest Arkansas.

WHERE: SoNA is based in Fayetteville and performs at Walton Arts Center.

LIFE STYLES

WHAT: Life Styles Inc.

is a nonprofit organization that serves individuals with disabilities in Benton and Washington counties.

Since 1976, Life Styles has been helping individuals with disabilities achieve the skills and confidence they need to live as independently as possible.

Life Styles’ College for Living program provides lifelong learning opportunities, the Supported Employment program assists individuals in finding and maintaining jobs, and the Supported Living program provides an array of support to enable individuals to live successfully in our community.

WISH LIST: For clients’ personal needs - Laundry soap, body soap, shampoo, dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels (all items need to be scent free); for emergency preparedness - crank flashlight/radios, storage tubs, first aid kits; kitchen supplies - serving spoons/ spatulas, serving bowls, storage bags (1 gallon, 1 quart), coffee pot (30-50 cups), drink dispensers (3-5 gallons); maintenance - curly light bulbs (45, 60 watt), smoke/carbon monoxide detectors; art supplies - art projects, paper (drawing/mixed media paper, any sizes), matte medium, acrylics, watercolortubes, beads (no plastic, please), black drawing pens, art gum erasers, stretched canvas or canvas blanket or stretchers, wood (anything really or for framing 1-by-2-inch strips), masonite, picture hanging wire and eyehooks, plexiglass sheets, black house paint;

furniture and equipment - wall decor, vacuum cleaner, blender, flat-screen TV (32-inch-plus), set of dishes (minimum eight settings), cushions for the patio swing, upgraded computer;

sport and entertainment - barbecue grill, board games, books, pool table (to teach geometry skills), sofa/ loveseat set, CD player/ boombox, Wii games and accessories, relay batons (at least four), shot puts (4kg men) and (.272 kg woman), hand-held timer, whistle, tennis balls;

office supplies - file label maker, three-ring binders (all sizes), pens, trash bags.
