Second thoughts

— Good thing Chiefs don’t score often Kansas City safety Eric Berry is no fan of the Chiefs’ equine mascot.

“I don’t mess with horses, straight up,” Berry said. “Might come over here and throw a tantrum.” It’s a long-standing tradition for the team mascot Warpaint torun around the field whenever the Chiefs actually push the ball over the goal line. That’s nice in theory, but Berry does not agree with the entire horse concept. Turns out the third-year star has a severecase of equinophobia, which puts him in the wrong NFL city in that sense.

Warpaint was “retired” in 1989, but the Chiefs brought him back (another version of him, we’re assuming) for the team’s 50thanniversary celebration in 2009.

Unfortunately for Berry, Warpaint is now back to stay.

Stunt gone wrong

A cheerleader and stunt team member is in stable condition after falling on her head during a performance at an Orlando Magic game.

In a statement released by the Magic on Wednesday, the family of 31-year-old Jamie Woode said she suffered three vertebrae fractures and a broken rib. But there were no signs of neurological damage and she’s expected to make a full recovery.

Woode lost her footing and fell to the floor during a routine between the first and second quarters of the Magic’s 99-89 loss to the New York Knicks on Tuesday night.

She was carted off on a stretcher, but waved her hands as she was wheeled away.

The Magic Stunt Team is comprised mostly of former University of Central Florida cheerleaders and is contracted for performances by the team.

In talking with members of the media Tuesday, Tennesseequarterback Tyler Bray said: “I’m paid to win football games.”

Bray is not the quarterback of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans; he’s still in school at the University ofTennessee.

After realizing what he said, Bray quickly tried to back track.

“I mean ... my education,” Bray said. “That’s what the SEC likes to call ‘getting paid.’ ”

“Bray really isn’t getting paid,” wrote yahoo.com’s Graham Watson. “And if he is ... Well, Tennessee should think about trying to get its money back.” Video stars

“Miranda [Serna] came and watched our practices. We talked a

lot; we e-mailed each other. The contact was

there and when you add the fact they were coming to see us play that night, it was quite devastating.” LR Parkview Coach Lahoma Howard on the death of Oklahoma State assistant coach Miranda Serna last year.
