— A West Fork woman faces felony charges after police said she stabbed her son in the knee Tuesday.

Beckey L. Smith, 46, of 15 Newland Road was arrested in connection with felony aggravated assault on a family member and first-degree battery.

West Fork police responded to an injury report at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Newlin Road.

According to a preliminary arrest report, Smith stabbed Weston Ramey in the knee with a butcher knife during an argument.

Ramey reportedly pushed Smith away by grabbing her neck.

Smith reportedly told police she “got into it” with her son, but couldn’t remember why. She said her son started choking her to the point where she nearly passed out so she stabbed him in the knee, according to the report. Police said Smith appeared intoxicated.

Police reportedly noticed Smith had red marks around her neck.

Ramey was treated at the scene by Central Emergency Medical Service.

Smith was arrested and taken to the Washington County Detention Center where she was being held Wednesday on $5,000 bond.

Police requested an arrest warrant for Ramey on a second-degree battery charge, according to the report. He hadn’t been arrested as of Wednesday evening.
