McKee, Okeef Win

At Grand Lake

Randy McKee and Dan Okeef won the Northwest Arkansas Bassmasters tournament held Sunday at Grand Lake. They had 10 bass that weighed 18.15 pounds.

Richard Irving and James Rogers were second with 10 bass at 17.04 pounds. Brad Hollowell and Paul Williams placed third with 10 bass at 15.1 pounds.

Most fish were caught with jig and pigs or shaky-head plastic worms.

Devil’s Den Gets Trout

Anglers may fish for rainbow trout at Devil’s Den State Park starting today. The Arkansas Game & Fish Commission will stock 6-acre Lake Devil with 500 rainbow trout.

State license requirements and fishing regulations apply.

Audubon Holds Work Day, Outing

The Northwest Arkansas Audubon Society will hold a work day from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Lake Atalanta Park in Rogers to remove invasive plant species and pick up litter.

Lake Atalanta is a prime birding site because of its mix of glade, grassland and woodland habitats.

A field trip to view migrating waterfowl will be held at 9 a.m. on Sunday atLake Fayetteville. Meet in the parking area on the north end of the dam.

Skippers Needed

For Fishing Trip

Fishermen with boats are needed to take Springdale Central Junior High students fishing on Beaver Lake on Tuesday during the school’s fishing-club outing.

The trip is mainly for striped bass, but any type of fishing may be done. Volunteers may take students fishing out of Hickory Creek Marina in the morning, afternoon or both.

Lunch will be provided.
