The Little Rock man charged in his wife’s slaying on Saturday told detectives that he tossed the murder weapon in the Arkansas River, according to arrest affidavits.

Deshaun Scott, 32, of 7909 W. 32nd St. remained in jail on Tuesday night, where he was being held in lieu of $500,000 bond on a firstdegree murder charge that was set in court Sunday in the shooting death of his 33-year-old wife, Lacrisa Scott.

Officers found Lacrisa Scott’s body in the 7800 block of Katherine Street, less than a block from the couple’s home, with at least one gunshot wound.

Detectives went to the home of Deshaun Scott’s mother in the 5200 block of W. 30th St., where detectives “discovered evidence of foul play,” but they didn’t find him, affidavits said.

They then went to a residence in the 3100 block of Tatum Street to talk to witnesses when Deshaun Scott arrived and “asked if something was wrong and wanted to know if something had happened to his wife,” the affidavits said.

Deshaun Scott went with detectives to give them background information on his wife, when other detectives received information that made them think the husband was “being untruthful” about the homicide, the reports said.

After being read his rights, Scott admitted to his wife’s shooting and said he tossed the weapon into the river, police said.

No other motive was offered by police, who have characterized the slaying as “domestic” violence.

Deshaun Scott has a lengthy criminal history, including drugs and weapons charges dating back to 1999, according to circuit court records.

In 2003, he was given five years of probation after he pleaded guilty to domestic battery, possession of firearms by a felon and felony terroristic threatening.

Scott and his wife were charged in the same drug case in late 2010 but their charges were dropped in April 2011.

Lacrisa Scott’s death is the 45th homicide in Little Rock this year. Police count the May 23 accidental shooting death of 14-year-old Tyjuan Woodard in their homicide count.

In all of 2011, there were 37 homicides and 28 such investigations in 2010.
