Teens plead not guilty in blow-dart shootings

Two Rogers teenagers pleaded not guilty Monday to felony and misdemeanor charges in connection with a series of drive-by blow dart and paintball shootings.

Jeremy Robert Hendrix, 18, and William Goines, 17, are charged with three counts of battery in the second degree, a Class D felony, and two counts of second degree assaut, a Class B misdemeanor. The pair entered their not guilty pleas during arraignments before Circuit Judge Jon Comstock.

Prosecutors have charged Goines as an adult.

Goines and Hendrix were arrested last month in connection with the September blow dart and paintball shootings. People reported to police about being shot with a blow dart or paintball, according to court documents.

Detectives discovered the purchase of a blow dart device and darts at Cabela’s and obtained a security photo of the buyer, who they identified as Hendrix, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Hendrix told police he and Goines didn’t mean to hit anyone, but Goines said they did because they thought that it was “funny to see them jump” when hit, according to the affidavit.

Goines admitted to police they shot at five or six people Sept. 21, according to the affidavit. He also said they shot darts Sept. 26 at the Sonic Drive-In on East New Hope Road.

Hendrix and Goines will appear in court next on Dec. 13.

The pair faces up to 6 years each for each of the Class D felonies. They face up to 90 days in jail for each misdemeanor charge.
